Vugar Suleymanov, the Chairman of the Board of the Mine Action Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, held the meeting with Lu Mei, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Azerbaijan.

During the meeting, Vugar Suleymanov expressed appreciation for China’s financial contribution to demining activities in Azerbaijan, describing this step as a clear indicator of humanitarian solidarity. He also briefed the Ambassador on landmine problem faced by Azerbaijan and the ongoing activities aimed at its elimination.

Ambassador Lu Mei emphasized that cooperation in the field of mine action constitutes an important component of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries and highlighted China’s support for Azerbaijan’s demining efforts. She noted that one of the documents signed during the state visit of Mr. Ilham Aliyev, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan to China in April of this year covered cooperation in humanitarian demining and added that the current donation was made within the framework of the respective Memorandum of Understanding.

The parties discussed prospects for cooperation in humanitarian demining, including opportunities for the exchange of expertise.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties exchanged the relevant documents related to the transferred donation.
