A delegation lead by Mr. Essa Al Fayadh the Director General of Diroctarate for Mine Action of the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Iraq paid a visit to ANAMA from 27-31 January 2014.
The major aim of the visit was to prepare a ground for bilateral cooperation and the exchange of expierences between two countries in Humanitarian Mine Action. The decision about establishing a bilateral cooperation was taken during the visit of an official ministerial delegation from the Republic of Iraq cosisting of the Advisor to the Prime Minister, The Minister of Provinces and Communications and the Depute Minister of Culture to the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan taken place on 01-05 December 2013.
On the first day of the visit, the delegation visited Fuzuli region the Operational Base of ANAMA located in Horadiz town, observed the mine clearance operations in the region, and became familiar with the assets involved in the operations. The next day, the delegation visited Ter ter region, in line with mine clearance operations the delegations also visited the training school designed for Mine Victims in the region. Moreover the team received a detailed briefing about the project implemented in the region for mine victims and their family members.
Within the trip agenda the delegation has also visited Regional Training Center of ANAMA located in Goygol region. A detailed briefing on training courses to be provided in the training Base of ANAMA was presented to the guests. Followed by demonstration of the modern operational and training equipments used by ANAMA Training Survey and Quality Assurance Team, a presentation of the trainings that have been provided for different Teams from other countries was presented.
On 31 January 2014 a wide range discussions were held at ANAMA HQ with the Director of ANAMA Mr. Nazim Ismayilov. In line with a information on activites in the sphere of Humanitarian Mine Action and actions against explosive remnants of was Mr.Ismayilov also briefied the delegation about successful international training projects provided for other countries as well as Mine Risk Education and Mine Victims Assistance projects run in the country.
On his turn Mr.Essa Al Fayadh stressed on the importance of Mine Risk Education as one of the key activities in Humanitarian Mine Action and expressed a will for benefiting from the experiece of ANAMA in this particular field and other spheres of Mumanitarian Mine Action. Mr. Al Fayadh also mentioned that upon an approval from the Gorenment of Iraq relevant experts from different ministries of Iraq will soon visit Azerbaijan to benefit from the expieriences gained in this humanitarian activity.
