ANAMA PARTICIPATED IN TIRANA WORKSHOP ON ACHIEVING A MINE-FREE SOUTH EASTERN EUROPE AND IN 20TH MEETING OF SEEMACC

From 7 to 9 October 2009, ANAMA MRE Manager participated in the workshop on Achieving a Mine-Free South Eastern Europe held in Tirana, Albania. The organizers of the workshop were Albanian Mine Action Executive (AMAE) and the Convention's Implementation Support Unit (ISU). The representatives from mine-affected countries in South Eastern Europe, national and international non-governmental organizations and mine victims participated in this workshop. The purpose of Tirana Regional Workshop was to analyze progress made and challenges remaining in Southeastern Europe regarding the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention. The Convention bans anti-personnel mines and requires states that join the Convention to destroy all existing stocks; clear all mined areas and assist the survivors. On October 7, 2009 ANAMA as a member of SEEMACC was represented at the 20th meeting of the South-Eastern Europe Mine Action Coordination Council (SEEMACC) by MRE Manager, Mr. Musa Jalalov.
