In March 2004, the meeting was held with the volunteers in the Baku Office of the American Peace Corps by ANAMA Director, CTA UNDP/ANAMA and Agency officers. The meeting have been initiated by the Corps' Program and Training Officer Mr. Steven Zodrow who decided to include the Mine Risk Education briefing into the regular training program for the volunteers teaching English with their counterparts - Azerbaijani teachers in different places in Azerbaijan. The further growth of number of volunteers and the expansion of their activities are envisaged with possible coverage of the war-affected districts. Mr. Lutful Kabir, CTA UNDP/ANAMA introduced ANAMA representatives to the participants and then gave the floor to the Director of ANAMA. Mr. Nazim Ismaylov talked about mine action objectives of the Government of Azerbaijan and what does ANAMA do to get these objectives achieved. After that the Documentary film on Agency activities has been demonstrated. The MRE part of the meeting consisted of the presentation by Mr. Musa Jalalov, ANAMA MRE Cell Team Leader, who gave the comprehensive information on Agency activities and plans in this particular direction of mine action. Formal training in MRE had been performed by the demonstration of the teaching material - MS Power Point presentation "Azerbaijan Mined Area indicator Package" prepared based on pictures of dangerous areas in Azerbaijan by the Golden West Humanitarian Foundation (USA) in cooperation with Colin King Associates from UK. All presented by ANAMA have been received with the great interest and active discussions took place with presenters.
