Within the frames of Azerbaijan Government's initiative on non-military assistance to Afghanistan, ANAMA MRE Department Manager, Mr. Musa Jalalov and TQA Senior Officer, Mr. Fikret Aliyev on October 26-November 8, 2010 paid a visit to Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. ANAMA representatives have a lot of official meetings at Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority, Department for Mine Clearance (DMC), Ministry of Education, and Mine Action Coordination Center for Afghanistan (MACCA) and etc. The purpose of the last visit was further cooperation between ANAMA and DMC in all spheres of mine action, sharing experience and implementation of joint initiatives and handing over of MRE books prepared by ANAMA. Within the framework of the visit, 10,000 of MRE student textbooks and 500 of teacher manuals, translated into Dari and printed with the financial support of Government of Azerbaijan, were handed over to DMC Director Mr. Abdul Haq Rahim and Deputy Minister of Education. The 'handing over' ceremony was well organized by the ANDMA, Ministry of Education and MACCA, with participation of mass media representatives, which was broadcasted through local TV channels and radios. After an agreement with Afghanistan Ministry of Education, with the support of DMC and MACCA officers ANAMA specialists conducted three training sessions for teachers (one in Kabul and two in Parvan province). Altogether 150 teachers have general ideas on newly printed student textbooks and teacher manuals, and MRE school curriculum as well. The newly printed books were warmly welcomed by teachers for being professionally translated and produced. This was a test pilot project and will be monitored on the second half of 2011. Taking into consideration all proposals and suggestions came from DMC and Ministry of Education, ANAMA will promote the very project in coming years ahead which intents production of 20,000 of more MRE books in Dari and Pashto languages for the schoolchildren in Afghanistan. Additionally, discussions on conducting trainings by ANAMA specialists on Quality Assurance, External Quality Management and training on improvised explosive devices were also discussed during the meetings with DMC representatives. At the end of the visit an appreciation letter has been provided to ANAMA specialists on behalf of Minister of Education of Afghanistan and DMC and they also thanked Government of Azerbaijan for in-kind humanitarian support.
