Mr. Rashid Veliyev, inhabitant of Ali Bayramly district was heavily wounded as a result of anti-tank mine explosion during the military operations in 1992. He lost his right arm above elbow and fragmentation in right eye was gradually weakening eyesight. So, he was in need of two operations: repeated surgery of his arm and ophthalmologic surgery. On November 6, 2006, after the medical examination, Mr. Rashid Veliyev has undergone a surgery on cataract and fragments' extraction. The surgery was completed successfully. It was the result of coordinated action of ANAMA and the Ophthalmic Clinic for Poor People (Khazar Compassion Project). Repeated surgery on his right hand was also issued well on November 13, 2006 at Clinic No.1 named after Ali Nagiyev. ANAMA and NNGO, "Chirag" ("Cresset") Humanitarian and Development Public Society provided necessary financial assistance and administrative support for this happening. Right now the health condition of the mine survivor is good. He expresses his gratitude to ANAMA and all involved, wishes such an initiative of ANAMA to continue on in future.
