On April 10-11, 2008 ANAMA as the member of Big Bang Research Advisory Panel participated in the Mine Cancellation Workshop in Slovenia which was organized by Survey Action Center, US. It is a part of Big Bang Research initiative implemented by the Advisory Panel consisting of different mine action actors including representatives of Marshall Legacy Institute, US DoS PM/WRA, UNDP and number of mine action NGOs. On April 14-15, 2008 ANAMA Director Mr. Nazim Ismaylov participated in the Eleventh International Meeting of Mine Action Programme Directors and UN advisors which was organized by the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) and the UN Mine Action Team, with the support of the International Trust Fund for Demining and Mine Victims Assistance (ITF) and the Croatian Mine Action Centre - Centre for Testing Development and Training (CROMAC - CTRO). This annual meeting is a significant one for the mine action community. It represents an opportunity for stakeholders to meet and assess the progress and challenges of the sector. Participants of the gathering comprises senior officials from mine action programmes, colleagues from United Nations departments and agencies, international non-governmental organizations, experts from donor governments and other mine action implementing partners. On April 16, 2008 ANAMA Director attended the OSCE Forum for Security Co-operation conducted in Vienna. The mine action activities implemented in affected countries discussed within the frame of the meeting. Mr. Nazim Ismaylov briefed the participants on the ANAMA experience in establishing and developing the national mine action capacity. As a follow to the briefing ANAMA Director delivered the presentation reflected "Clearance of unexploded ordnances in Azerbaijan" Project, in other words Saloglu Clearance Project. On April 17, 2008 ANAMA Director met with the representatives of the Way Industry Company. With the participation of the officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia signed the contract on procurement of new Bozena-5 mechanical demining machine. Bozena-5 medium flail system meets all the requirements of humanitarian demining standards. The event was widely broadcasted by the State TV stations of the country.
