The UNDP Mine Action Senior Management Course, as taught at JMU, is organized using a modular approach and drawing on the expertise of a number of university professors and subject matter experts. The course seeks to integrate the latest thinking in the field of business management with the practical experience of mine action operators. The goal is to hone the skills of senior managers of national mine action programs so that countries can more effectively and efficiently clear their lands of landmines and other explosive remnants of war that adversely affect their citizens' well being and impinge upon economic development. From 15 October till 15 November 2007, by the organization of UNDP and JMU, MAIC has conducted Mine Action Senior Management Courses held in USA. ANAMA Standars officer Fikret Aliyev and Chief Supervisor Adil Aslanov have presented Azerbaijan Mine Action Program to the participants of the UNDP Mine Action Senior Management Course. ANAMA representatives delivered presentation on Azerbaijan National Mine Action and current operations conducted by the Agency. Besides this, Agency representatives met with the UNDP, UNMAS and GICHD officials and provided them with broad information about the scope of mine problem in Azerbaijan, short and long term strategies, achievements up to date and plans for upcoming years. At the end, MAIC Director has distributed the Certificates on Mine Action Senior Management Course to the participants.
