On 29 November - 3 December 2010, Azerbaijan Mission Concellor in Switzerland Mr. Akram Zeynalli and ANAMA Operations Officer Mr. Tural Mammedov under the leadership of ANAMA Director Mr. Nazim Ismayilov took part at the Tenth Meeting of the States Parties (10MPS) held in Geneve, Switzerland. The Tenth Meeting of the States Parties is a formal diplomatic meeting of the 156 States that have accepted the 1997 Convention on the Prohibition of the Use, Stockpiling, Production and Transfer of Anti-Personnel Mines and on their Destruction. At the 10MSP, approximately 700 delegates representing over 100 States and dozens of international and non-governmental organizations discussed the draft Geneva Progress Report 2009-2010. This report documents progress made between during the first year of the application of the Cartagena Action Plan, in the pursuit of a mine-free world. The States Parties also developed solutions to challenges faced in implementing the Convention, including challenges related to clearing mined areas, destroying stockpiled mines and ensuring sustained support for landmine survivors. A key area of interest at the 10MSP was enhancing international cooperation and assistance.
