On 9 July, 2007 ANAMA hosted Mrs. Suzanne Fiederlein, Ph.D., the Research Associate of James Madison University, Dr. Demottaz and Mr. Streckeisen, representatives of the Swiss Foundation for Landmine Victims' Aid, Ms. Holm and Mr. DeAngelo, GIS specialists from USEUCOM. Mr. Safikhanov from AzCBL, accompanied the SFLVA delegation. They were intended to get acquainted with the mine action in Azerbaijan and establish the basis for further cooperation. SFLVA had also to assess results of the project on creating economic opportunities implemented by AzCBL. The main tenet of USEUCOM's visit was to identify needs of ANAMA in further assistance in information management. The meeting began with the demonstration of ANAMA Documentary, reflecting mine action activities in Azerbaijan. ANAMA Director Mr. Nazim Ismaylov briefed the guests on the scope of mine problem, on the plans and practical steps of the Government of Azerbaijan to resolve the problem. He talked about cooperation with donors, governmental and non-governmental organizations, long and short-term strategies for upcoming years. Achievements and outcomes of the Agency activities at various directions were also delivered by ANAMA specialists. On 10-11 July, 2007 Mrs. Fiederlein has paid visits to Fuzuli, Terter, Aghdam, Khanlar districts and Ganja city and acquainted with the operational activities in situ. In Ganja city she were in the Resource Center for mine survivors, observed the outcomes of the project implemented by "Ojag" ("Fire") Humanitarian Association in 2006 on provision of income generation opportunities to mine survivors' families through vocational training for family members.
