On April 10-11 Mine Cancellation Workshop in Slovenia will be organized by Survey Action Center, US. It is a part of Big Bang Research initiative implemented by the Advisory Panel consisting of different mine action actors including representatives of Marshall Legacy Institute, US DoS PM/WRA, UNDP and number of mine action NGOs. The Advisory Panel exists to improve the study's results and acceptance in the mine action community and provide mine action actors as well as donors with estimates/evaluates and plans in order to outline the future strategies for global mine action activity. ANAMA as the member of Big Bang Research Advisory Panel will also participate in the mentioned workshop. One of the events within the range of activities in this regards was a mission to Azerbaijan by Mr. Robert Eaton, Executive Director, SAC and Mr. Alistair Craib, Demining Advisor, Baric (Consultants) Ltd on early February, 2008. The purpose of visit was to draw on current experience and develop draft international standards to further enhance the effectiveness of land cancellation and to encourage wide spread use.
