Meeting with Representatives of States Parties to the Non-Alignment Movement

As part of the 2nd International Humanitarian Mine Action Conference held in Baku, a meeting was held with the representatives of the countries that are members of the Non-Alignment Movement and engaged in mine action activities.

During the meeting, a discussion took place on the establishment of a Group of Friends on States Affected by Mines, initiated by the President of the country, Ilham Aliyev.

It is worth noting that the President of the country, Ilham Aliyev, proposed the creation of a Group of Friends on States Affected by Mines during the Summit meeting of the Contact Group on Mine Action in the Fight against COVID-19, held in Baku on March 2 of this year.

Considering that many of the state parties to the Non-Alignment Movement are among the most heavily mine and unexploded ordnance affected countries, the aim of the discussion was to raise this issue on a global scale and explore collaborative solutions.

The representatives of the countries engaged in mine action activities, as members of the Non-Alignment Movement, warmly welcomed the President's proposal and expressed their support for discussing future opportunities for collaboration in this direction.
