A delegation led by ANAMA Chairman of the Board a number of meetings in the sphere of demining are held in Croatia

The 19th International Symposium on Mine Action is currently taking place in Vodice, Croatia from May 3-5, 2023, and is being attended by a delegation led by Vugar Suleymanov, Chairman of the Board of the Mine Action Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ANAMA).

The delegation includes Sultan Hajiyev, Special Representative of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Deputy Head of the Secretariat of the Interdepartmental Center of the Coordinating Headquarters for the Restoration and Reconstruction of Liberated Territories, Anar Imanov, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Croatia, as well as officials from ANAMA and the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Republic of Croatia.

During their visit, the Azerbaijani delegation has participated in relevant bilateral meetings organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Republic of Croatia. They have held discussions with representatives led by Damir Trat, the head of the Civil Defense General Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Croatia, regarding the development of useful cooperation between ANAMA and relevant Croatian institutions, as well as the possible support that Croatia, which has been fighting the threat of mines for many years, could provide to demining operations carried out in Azerbaijan.

In another meeting with representatives of the Geneva International Center for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD), the Azerbaijani delegation expressed interest in sharing their experience in the field of humanitarian demining with other countries and discussed the continuation of cooperation in this regard.

The delegation also met with the South-Eastern Europe Mine Action Coordination Council (SEEMACC), which serves as a platform for exchanging knowledge and experience in demining. They highlighted the importance of mutual cooperation and the development of activities with war-affected member countries.

Furthermore, the delegation exchanged ideas about possible partnership opportunities in the field of demining with the director of the Hungarian Mine Action Group (HUNMAG).

It is worth noting that the Symposium, which includes the participation of numerous countries from around the world, will also feature a presentation on demining and reconstruction works in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan on May 5, 2023.
