ANAMA to Increase Involvement of Mine Detection Dogs (MDD) in Operations

The Mine Action Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ANAMA) is dedicated to restoring the liberated territories from occupation and ensuring the safe return of former IDPs. To achieve this goal, ANAMA is working to expand its operations and increase its material and technical capacity.

ANAMA recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Marshall Legacy Institute (MLI), resulting in the delivery of five additional Malinois mine detection dogs (MDDs) to the agency. These specially trained dogs will be involved in demining operations in Karabakh, after undergoing adaptation training with their handlers and receiving accreditation according to International Mine Action Standards (IMAS).

It's worth noting that Silk Way West Airlines is providing free transportation for the step-by-step importation of the mine-detecting dogs to Azerbaijan.

With the increased involvement of MDDs in demining operations, ANAMA is taking critical steps towards restoring safety and security in the liberated territories.
