Meeting with the Public Council was held at ANAMA

The Public Council under the Mine Action Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ANAMA) held its first meeting in 2023.

Meeting topics included discussions of the Public Council report reflecting the activity of the members, the Action Plan for 2023, upcoming projects, and the exchange of views on current topics.

Members of the Public Council held regular meetings in 2022, according to the period report submitted by the Council. During these meetings, the main topics discussed included how Azerbaijan's landmine problem is being communicated to the international community, how international donors can assist, how to improve the standard of living of landmine victims and their families, and how to increase educational initiatives.

In addition, members of the Public Council visited the territories of Tartar, Barda, Aghdam, Aghjabedi, Beylagan, Jabrayil, Fuzuli, Goranboy and Gazakh and participated in international meetings and events, providing information about the landmine problem facing our country and the dangers facing our citizens.

During the meeting with the Public Council members, the importance of directing activities for 2023, civil society involvement in education about mine dangers, and international organizations' involvement was discussed, organizing meetings with members of the Public Council and other relevant structures with the aim of expanding education activities about mines and explosive ammunition dangers, and informational events with leading press structures was emphasized.

The Chairman of the Mine Action Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Vugar Suleymanov, highly appreciated the contribution made by the members of the Public Council.
